This quickly devolves into terminology and what is meant by this or that.

HOWEVER, and in any case, I believe that Eckert and Mauchley should be men-

tioned. Here is a quote found at the top of a google query, to wit:


John William Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert are the scientists credited with the

invention of … the first general-purpose electronic digital computer completed

in 1946


That machine was ENIAC.
